Beautiful Getaways Near Perth – Mandalay Resort

Beautiful Getaways Near Perth – Mandalay Resort

Some of my best childhood memories are from caravan parks and beautiful getaways near Perth. Of weeks spent camping by the beach, surrounded by other families enjoying the same simple lifestyle, with kids everywhere! Always someone to play with, always someone to talk too and always something to do. We were never bored, never lonely and never hanging around our campsite.

My sister and I spent hours of every day making new friends and exploring the outside world with them. Our parents got peace and quiet and we could burn all our energy running, jumping, climbing, bike riding, getting dirty and doing all the things that kids just don’t get too do enough of.

Mandalay Holiday Resort brought all those beautiful memories rushing back and left me with a new set of lovely memories made with my own young family. From the moment we entered the driveway I felt like I had gone back to some of the greatest times of my childhood and the smile was impossible to wipe from my face!

The feeling you get when you enter a place will tell you everything you need to know about your stay before it has even begun and from the moment we were shown into our stunning chalet by a lovely staff member, we knew we had found the perfect home away from home.

With beautifully landscaped and cared for gardens, perfectly manicured camp and caravan sites and the most homely and adorable chalets and cabins to suit every sized family, there is something here for every type of holiday. At certain times of the year even the furriest members of the family are welcome and you can enjoy a trip away with your dog at Mandalay.

Within moments of unpacking the scooters and bikes, the kids were off and racing up and down the roads and pathways, eager to burn off the energy accumulated sitting in the car. Even two stops between Perth and Busselton had not been enough to keep them moving. With a 5km speed limit we knew the kids were safe cruising the roads of the holiday park and if you’ve never stayed in a place like Mandalay before you will very quickly realise that everyone takes care of everyone.

There is a community feeling in a beautiful park like this and being very family oriented you know you are surrounded by guests who are hoping for the same king of getaway as you are. A peaceful one, where everyone gets a good night’s sleep (except if your up early to go fishing of course) and everyone respects everyone’s need for some rest and relaxation. It is comforting for a family with young children to know they will not allow school leavers to stay in the park and that after 10pm you are guaranteed peace and quiet.

Our self-contained chalet was so well equipped I was quite surprised. I’ve been self-contained accommodation with just enough kitchen utensils to eat and a blunt prep knife, but not at Mandalay. We had enough kitchen ware to prepare and host a feast and even if you’re not staying in a chalet or cabin there is an amazing camp kitchen on site where you can prepare the most gourmet of meals.

Most importantly our beds were comfortable, our blankets were fresh, clean and warm and the bathroom was immaculate. We even had a spa bath!

If like me, the one thing you never loved about camping in a caravan park was the trek to the toilet block in the dark or cold of night, then you absolutely need to see the ensuite sites at Mandalay. Your own toilet and shower right on your camp site, they even have a mirror. Just because you’re camping doesn’t mean you wouldn’t need to look fabulous to go for dinner!

Mandalay is truly the perfect place to holiday with kids of all ages and one of the beautiful getaways near Perth. The park is filled with playgrounds and activities to keep them moving, playing and having fun. The giant jumping pillow was by far one of our favorites and heaps of fun for mum and dad too, though I think I preferred sitting and watching with a delicious coffee in hand. How could I go wrong with the adorable coffee van that rolls into Mandalay most mornings, (every morning on school holidays) who catered for my dairy free needs and were happy to fill my reusable cup. If you’re addicted to a good coffee then you must check out Little Fox Coffee during your stay.

Even dinner is catered on site some nights if you don’t feel like cooking or heading out somewhere, with the awesome variety of food trucks that come through the park during the week, more regularly during school holidays.

A sports field kept older kids on the move with enough open space to play footy, soccer or throw a frisbee and with a well equipped games room there was something to entertain your tech starved teenagers too. Pool, foosball, big screen tv and even arcade machines, how could anybody get bored?

The pools were an awesome hit too, especially with a heated, shaded section, a shallow beach and of course a waterslide! The waterslide was big enough for even the adults and for the little ones not keen on the slide the shallow beach area and heated pool were calm and comfortable. If you weren’t keen for the pools though, the beach is at most a few hundred metres walk from anywhere in Mandalay.

If you don’t feel like walking or you want to explore further than walking can take you, you can hire bikes in the park. The wonderful staff can tell you about all the beautiful places to explore that are around Busselton and easily reachable by pushbike from the resort. They can also help you find wonderful places throughout the Margaret River Region that you can visit and are always happy to help you with anything you might need during your stay. There is even a vast array of necessities in their on site general store, so if you happen to run out of something you don’t have to go far to restock.

By the time we had to leave, we were ready to stay a month, or longer as we had truly settled in. The kids had made a bunch of new friends and never wanted to go home and hubby and I were absolutely relaxed. If only holidays could last forever, but since they can’t make the best choices with your family getaway and go somewhere that will cater to your every need and whim, like Mandalay Resort Busselton.
