Perth Beach Holiday: Footprints Preston Beach

Between moving house and settling into official homeschooling it’s been way too long since we have been on a family holiday. So, when we were offered a Perth beach holiday stay at Footprints Preston Beach there was no answer but Yes!

The Perfect Place for a Perth Beach Holiday

Footprints Preston Beach is the perfect place for families to visit – close to the beach, heated swimming pool and all the amenities for a self contained stay. It is also ideal for all your special events. Wedding ceremonies can be held in the beautiful surrounds but with the addition of accommodation on hand means you can hold your ceremony celebrations in close proximity to your guest’s accommodation.

I knew this Perth beach holiday was going to be exciting for the kids but also easy for us as parents so with the dogs shipped off to the kennels and the car packed we set off.

Even from Toodyay the journey to Preston Beach is quick and pleasant, from Perth it is even shorter. We have visited Preston Beach before but were much further from the Beach. Footprints is only 500m from the beach and even my 2 year old was able to walk to the water.

On arrival we were greeted by the friendly reception staff who explained how to get to our Beach Shack and where we would find all the amenities we would need. The kids were eager to escape the car so while we unpacked they raced around exploring the unit.

Activities for the Family

With only the essentials unpacked we headed straight to the pool, despite the coolness of the afternoon the water was still warm and inviting. It wasn’t long before the kids spotted the games room and insisted on having a go at all the different games.

After dragging the kids away from the games with a promise of a treat at the corner store we dried off and went for a walk to see the beach. After spotting our first view of the crystal clear water we stopped off at the store just outside footprints. It’s such a convenience to have a place to pick up all those essentials that you always forget when going on holidays.

By this time it was almost dinner time so we headed back to rest after our journey and set the kids up in front of the tv in the comfortable lounge room. We were all exhausted so it was early to bed for us, ready for a big day of exploring the next day.

By morning the kids were eager to get to the beach as early as possible. Hubby took them down leaving me to tidy up and plan the next lot of adventures. Returning back with tales of getting dunked by waves and finding sea shells, alas no fish were caught but much fun was had by all.

By this point hubby was ready for a lie down so the kids and I headed off to Lake Clifton to see the Thrombolites – living, breathing rocks that were around at the time of the dinosaurs. A short walk through the bush and we were met by the amazing scenery and walked down the board walk which took us right over the top of the water and the thrombolites for the best viewing. It was a unique experience that I certainly recommend while you are down at Preston Beach.

By the time we arrived back it was time for more swimming so hubby took the boys back to the swimming pool where they paddled and splashed in the shallow pool for the rest of the afternoon.

Dinner was an easy affair with a pre made lasagne and the most delicious chips purchased from the corner store. Once everyone was stuffed full we all relaxed back in the lounge room for a family movie until everyone was asleep, exhausted from a very enjoyable day on our Perth beach holiday.

Save on a Great Get Away!

Our last morning we were very excited to head down to Footprints Café for a buffet breakfast. When we arrived we were greeted by a vast spread of everything you could want for breakfast. Hot food including sausages, hash browns, eggs, mushrooms, as well as toast, cereal and a fruit platter. Once we were all full of delicious food there was just time for one more swim before we checked out.
